One of the main activities of FACE is to help young people learn more about food and farming in a sustainable countryside. Strong links with local farmers and associated organisations are built in order to facilitate school visits and the development of curriculum related material. The main aim of the work is to allow school pupils to build an informed and realistic view of the issues currently facing farming and the countryside.
If you are interested in this area and want to know more about how countryside and farming topics can be integrated into the National Curriculum or discuss possible ways of linking farms and schools, please contact Katy or visit the FACE website at www.face-online.org.uk
There are superb teaching aids available as well as washing and toilets facilities on site. The schools staff are fully trained, have an educational background and are CRB checked. They each bring expertise in a specialist area which ensures that pupils receive the best possible information available to them. The activities are based on the school curriculum and not only provides for their educational needs but also focus on learning in a fun environment.
The College’s main campus at Bilsborrow is set in 600 hectares of open, green surroundings. This gives us an extensive opportunity to promote the links between food, farming, countryside and the educational curriculum. We are privileged to be part of such a lovely countryside environment and incorporate this environment into all of our activities.
If your school is hosting a careers convention, parents evening, drop-in session or assembly, please let us know if you’d like us to attend. We can provide information about all of the courses at Myerscough College, how to apply and additional information on transport, accommodation and student finance.
