Students Rally together at North West Stages!

Myerscough College recently took part in the 2010 Legend Fires North West Stages Rally at Blackpool.

The annual event saw three cars entered in the rally that were serviced by Myerscough College’s Rally Team. The Team is made up entirely of students currently studying on a variety of different courses ranging from National Certificate level right through to Degree level.

Participation in the rally is used to support the student’s classroom learning and provide them with practical skills that will be useful within the motorsport sector.

The cars included Peter Jackson’s Mk2 Ford Escort, which finished in 5th place overall after driving in a hard and competitive manner. This continues a fruitful partnership between Jackson and the College that has been going on for several years.

Also on show was Simon Bowen’s Impreza, which finished in 8th place overall in his first ever outing with the College Rally Team. Rounding out the cars was Jake Gardner’s Vauxhall Nova, which was co-driven by National Diploma student Steve Hartley throughout the event and finished in 35th place.

Matt Wright, a Lecturer in Motorsports at the College, commented: “The North West Stages is a popular event and we are always keen to have a good presence there. All the students who were involved have done themselves proud and represented the College in an excellent way.”

The pictures show the students working on one of the cars at the event held on the 5th and 6th February.
