Penalty shootout fun for Sports Relief!
Friday 07 May 2010
Sport Studies students from Myerscough College’s Burnley Centre recently held a fun afternoon session to raise money for Sports Relief.
The afternoon consisted of a sponsored penalty shoot out competition where the students would try and beat their tutors in the goals. After taking their sponsorship forms home, the students managed to raise a fantastic £129.85 for the cause with one student, Chris Holden, raising £50 by himself.
Despite bleak weather throughout the day, the students brightened up proceedings by wearing Hawaiian costumes as part of the fun with the best dressed students winning two free tickets to watch the recent Burnley Vs Liverpool match. This was eventually won by Stephanie Johnson and Melissa Etherington for their excellent costumes.
Sports Tutor, Neil Garside, who organised the event, commented: “All the students who have taken part in the event have done fantastically well to raise such a good amount of money for Sports Relief. Everybody involved had a great time and we now hope to have similar events in the future.”
The pictures show Stephanie and Melissa displaying the cheque they will give to Sports Relief.
