About the Course
The Myerscough Golf Management (online) programme is designed to enable students to achieve an Honours Degree through part-time study at a distance from the host educational establishment. This course is suitable for applicants who currently work within Golf Industry and have a golf-related Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma. The course provides a management-focused golf programme and is designed to develop awareness and ability in corporate management, giving students the skills and confidence necessary to manage others in the golf industry.The course is taught via six online modules and tutor-student communication, allowing for analysis of issues underpinning golf. These modules include Player Management and Media in Golf, Event Management in the Golf Industry, International Golf Developments and Sport Development Strategy and Policy. An ethos of career planning and development runs through the curriculum, in order to develop employability and prepare students for a successful career in the UK or overseas. A Golf Management Project is also included, enabling students to produce a detailed piece of academic research relating to the golf industry.
The course is designed to enable successful students to analyse key academic themes and critically evaluate the wide range of management issues within different sectors of the golf industry.
Entry Criteria / Additional Information
Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma/Certificate or Foundation Degree to a pass standard in the subject area of Golf. Applicants with alternative equivalent qualifications will be considered positively - please enquire at the College. Transferable/Key Skills and AS levels may be used to contribute to the entry requirement, but they are not sufficient for entry on their own. Career experience plus evidence of study skills may also be considered. Consideration will be given to non-traditional qualifications and relevant work experience. Applicants are encouraged to produce evidence of their potential to benefit from the course. For applicants whose first language is not English, a test of English Language will be required at 6.0 grade in IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The applicant must forward evidence of eligibility to the College prior to acceptance on the course.Fees

List of Modules
Year 1- International Golf Developments - This module analyses the range of professional and amateur golf tours and the associate roles in their operation and development. It will also assess the impact and consequences of tourism and golf developments on the globalisation of golf.
- Career Development in Sport and Leisure - This module aims to consolidate personal competencies in a wide range of areas associated with work activity and practice in order to ensure an effective transition from higher education to work. It will include: to maintain a commitment to continuing professional development which will continue beyond the requirements of the course into the work situation as a career skill, to ensure an effective job search has been undertaken in order to match personal skills, abilities and achievements with potential career paths and employers; to provide opportunities for students to further develop transferable skills for an effective role in the workplace.
- Event Management in the Golf Industry - This module will provide a critical understanding of the management of golf events and further develop appropriate event management skills from planning, organisation and the delivery of a golf event.
- Player Management and Media in Golf - This module explores the theory and practice of player management and equality in the world of golf and the impact of media on golf will also be analysed.
- Golf Management Project - The aim of this module is to build on the research skills acquired from the research development module to produce an extended piece of work in a golf management related area of study.
- Sports Development Strategy and Policy - The aim of this module is to develop a critical understanding of the range of perspectives on social policy and the contemporary debates on the development of sport/leisure policy. It will enable students to critically evaluate the impact of policy on the development and implementation of strategies in sports organisations.
