About the Course

Myerscough College has teamed up with Lancashire Country Cricket Club and Lancashire Cricket Board to offer a fantastic opportunity to students wishing to pursue a career within the cricket and sports industry. The First Diploma course provides students with an introduction to Sports Studies, focusing on the cricket industry.

Entry Criteria / Additional Information

Students need to be *16 and over and have some level of achievement in GCSE or relevant Further Education qualifications. *(Students under the age of 16 may be eligible but specific funding arrangements will apply - please contact the College for further details.)

List of Modules

This will be comprised of 6 modules:
  • Health, Safety and Injury in Sport - Looks at the major risk factors that can affect an athlete and their performance in sports injuries.
  • The Body in Sport - Introduction into the structure and function of the human body and how it responds before, during and after exercise.
  • Practical Sport - Focuses on improving and developing the player’s practical performance, in a game or an individual performance.
  • Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness for Sport - This module will aid the development of an individual's technical skills and tactical awareness.
  • Nutrition for Sports Performance - Assist learners to understand the nutritional demand's and energy requirements of a selected sport.
  • Fitness for Sports Performance - Looks at fitness requirements of a particular sport and how these are implemented in a training programme.
